DC Kupwara presides over Transporters meeting at Town Hall

Urges for quality transport services for tourists, visitors

KUPWARA: All J&K Transporters Confederation Saturday organized a mega meeting of All India National Auto, Taxi, Bus Transporters Federation and Bhartiya Private Transport Mazdoor Maha Sangh here at Town Hall Kupwara.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray was chief guest at the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that transporters are an important segment of the society and the District Administration is always committed to uplift the transport sector in the district to ensure better services to the people.
He said that as the tourist flow has increased manifold in the district in recent years, the need is to provide quality transport services so that tourists coming from outside the UT are able to travel and explore different places including ALC areas of the district.
The DC said that the District Administration is always available for hand holding of those youth who are willing to start their own business ventures including purchase of commercial vehicles under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). He said Government schemes like e-Shram and Health Cards are also aimed to protect the welfare and future of the youth especially transporters and workers.
Earlier, President , All JK Transporters Association, Mohd Shafi put forth various demands including establishment of transporters welfare board and other issues pertaining to the transporters of Kupwara district.
The DC heard them patiently and assured resolution of their genuine demands.
ARTO Kupwara, Anees Ahmad; Representatives from different Transport Associations outside UT, besides, local transporters were present on the occasion.
