Police arrests nine persons, seizes as many vehicles

Srinagar: Police arrested nine persons and seized nine vehicles in Budgam and Baramulla, a police spokesman said Monday.

He said that a police party at a checkpoint established at Magraypora Bapora intercepted 06 vehicles (Dumpers) carrying illegally extracted minerals. Consequently, all the vehicles have been seized and drivers have been arrested. They have been identified as Anayatullah Khan resident of Ladoo Khrew, Abdul Qayoom Wani resident of Batapora Ladoo, Abid Mushtaq Lone resident of Shar-Shali Pampore, Arfat Ashraf Khanday resident of Mage Pampore, Aejaz Ahmad Ganai resident of Ladoo  Pampore and Mushtaq Ahmad Kumar resident of Ladoo Pampore.

At another checkpoint established at Bugroo Khansahib, a police party intercepted a tractor carrying illegally extracted minerals from Nalla Shali-Ganga. The tractor has been seized & driver has been arrested. He has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmed Bhat resident of Shamasabad Khansahib, the spokesman said.

In a similar action, a police party during patrolling at Khore Sherabad seized 01 Tipper and 01 Tractor for illegally extraction and transportation of minerals. The drivers identified as Ajaz Ahmad Wani resident of Khore Sherabad and Manzoor Ahmad Teli resident of Bungam Kunzer has been arrested.

All the accused drivers have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated, the spokesman said.
