DC Kupwara inaugurates Mega Job Fair at Town Hall

Urges youth to become job providers instead of job seekers

KUPWARA: Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kupwara,  Dr.Doifode Sagar Dattatray Monday urged upon the youth of Kupwara district to register themselves with District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC), Kupwara and get benefits of various Self Employment schemes (SES), adding that self employment is the sole option to coup up with the unemployment problem.

The DC was addressing a district level mega job fair, organised by DECC in collaboration with the District Administration Kupwara at Town Hall Kupwara.

The job fair was attended by Nodal Officer DECC, Nizamudin Wani; District Information Officer, Mohammad Yousuf Mir; Young Professionals, Employers (Representatives of Companies), Youth Clubs and a large number of educated unemployed youth.

The DC said that he has personally observed that the youth of Kupwara district possess enough talent to become job providers instead of job seekers.

He asked educated unemployed youth to work hard with persistence to compete in competitive exams, but do not wait years together to get a government job, instead go for self employment with strong will and become the torch bearers for others. He added one highly qualified youth can take two or more less educated persons with them and can earn their livelihood with dignity.

While addressing, DC interacted with 3 youth Basharat Bashir, MBA; Sanam Sana, PG, B.Ed and M.Ishfaq Mir, BA and guided them individually who can start their own ventures and excel.

Dr. Sagar appreciated the organizers for holding such a mega job fair and wished that such employment fairs should be held at mass level.  He asked the youth of the district to participate vigorously in these fairs to gain updated knowledge about the new and innovative schemes.  He said 85 schemes/trades have already been identified who the unemployed youth can opt for.

Later, the DC said that over 8000 youth have been identified under various employment generation schemes under PMEGP and now more things are coming under Mission Youth. He said employment generation for youth is the first priority of the LG Government and district administration.

The DC said that 100 jobs are being provided in this job fair as about one dozen companies are here to conduct the interview of the candidates.  He said in the earlier months a number of employers have visited the district to conduct the interview of the candidates.

He said that concerted efforts are on from the Administration to give skill training to youth to make them able to get suitable jobs in the private sector.

The Nodal Officer, DECC and other experts also spoke on the occasion and gave detailed knowledge about various employment generating schemes.
