Apiculture units under ABDP distributed among beneficiaries

GANDERBAL: The Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Ganderbal, Nuzhat Ishfaq and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir Monday distributed honey bee colonies among beneficiaries during an event organized by the Department of Agriculture Ganderbal, here.

The programme was organized as part of establishment of Apiculture Development units for Livelihood Generation under Aspiration Block Development Programme (ABDP) in the district.

On the occasion, 240 honey bee colonies were distributed among 46 identified beneficiaries of Block Lar.

Speaking at the event, the DC stressed upon the gathering especially unemployed youth to come forward and avail the benefits under different employment generation schemes of the department viz; Apiculture, Mushroom Cultivation, Protected Vegetable Cultivation and Mechanized Farming.

The DC complemented the department for their efforts to bring a major change in the apiculture sector in the district that will not only benefit the farmers but also contribute to the overall economic development of the district.

The other officers present on the occasion were Chief Planning Officer, Irfan Giri; District Level Subject Matter Specialist Ganderbal and Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Kangan.
