Police arrests four persons, seizes as many vehicles

Srinagar: Police have seized four vehicles and arrested four persons in Baramulla and Budgam for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, a police spokesman said.

In Baramulla, a police party during naka checking at Chichiloora Kunzer seized two vehicles (Tippers) for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Chichiloora Kunzer. The two accused drivers identified as Adil Ahmad Shah son of Ali Mohammad resident of Takia Gonipora and Abdul Hamid Mir son of Mohammad Shaban Mir resident of Mangloora were also arrested.

In Budgam, police received information that some persons were extracting soil from government land at Bundgam area of district Budgam. On receipt of this information, a police party of police station Beerwah swung into the action and seized two soil laden tractors from the specific spot and also arrested the both drivers. They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Malik resident of Soibugh and Mukhtar Ahmad Dar son of Muhammad Maqbool resident of Nasrullahpora.

All the accused persons have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
