Police arrests drug peddler in Awantipora, Budgam
Srinagar: The J&K police have arrested two drug peddlers from Awantipora and Budgam district and recovered contraband substances from his possession, a police spokesman said.
The spokesman said a Police party of Police Post Reshipora intercepted a suspicious person near Dogripora.
“During checking, officers were able to recover 150 grams of Charas like powder from his possession,” he said, adding that the accused was identified as Yasir Ahmad Dar son of Gulzar Ahmad Dar resident of Dogripora.
“He has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody. A case vide FIR No. 13/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated,” he said.
Meanwhile a drug peddler was arrested in Budgam during a naka check at Chewdara crossing.
“The police intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the police party,” he said.
“During the search, 1.1Kgs of Charas-like powder was recovered from his possession.”
The police have identified the accused as Tanveer Ahmad Ganie son of Mohammad Yousuf Ganie resident of Sadipora Beerwah.
“He has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody. A case vide FIR No. 13/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been taken up,” he said.
