Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir chapter of Indian Dental Association delegation on Wednesday met the advisor to J&K Lieutenant Governor (LG) and submitted a long pending issue of the dental fraternity.

The delegation was led by Dr. Adil Malik, Dr. Nusrat, Prof Dr H U Malik and Dr. Hanana Bashir.

“The meeting was held at the civil secretariat, Srinagar on Tuesday last and the delegation of Jammu and Kashmir chapter of Indian Dental Association delegation brought all the long pending issues of the dental fraternity in the notice of the advisor to Lieutenant Government Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar,” spokesman of the association said.

He further said that creation and advertisement of posts of Dental surgeons, career progression of in-service dental surgeons and relaxation in the registration of Dental establishments were discussed as Advisor JK Lieutenant Governor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar gave a patient hearing and assured that all the issues will be examined and resolved at the earliest.

“A memorandum of genuine demands was also submitted which includes 5000 unemployed dental surgeons in the entire union territory of Jammu and Kashmir  as since past 13 years, no post of dental surgeon was advised due to which a huge number of dental surgeons are still without any job,” the spokesman said.

He said that the advisor was apprised about the working of Jammu and Kashmir chapter of Indian Dental Association, its combination and vision of the association.

“All the members of the association are working hard for so many years to bring awareness about oral health to the general population at their doorstep so that efficient and quality dental care can be provided to the public,” he said.

He further said that government should create posts for dental surgeon at every NTPHC and three dental surgeons must be at CHC level besides a team of 10 dental surgeons with dental consultants should be at district hospital.

“This will uplift this field and will also create job opportunities for jobless dental surgeons,” the spokesman said.

The spokesman said that they urged the Advisor to J&K LG that there should either be reservation for dental surgeons for administrative posts like BMO, CMO, DHO or there should be a common seniority for dental surgeons and medical officers.

The delegation thanked the advisor to J&K LG for his special attention and concern regarding the long pending issues of the dental fraternity.
