Additional Commissioner Kmr inaugurates CBC’s 2-day ICOP on Amrit Mahotsav

Srinagar: Additional Commissioner Kashmir Abid Hussain Kira on Tuesday inaugurated a two-day long Integrated Communication and Outreach Program (ICOP) on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kothi Bagh Srinagar.

The outreach programme is being organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India as part of a series of awareness programmes organised in Jammu and Kashmir.

The highlight of the outreach programme was a photo exhibition showcasing the Indian National Movement and tracing the journey of India’s freedom struggle.

The photo exhibits contained valuable information about the unsung heroes of the freedom struggle and important events of the movement.

In addition to the exhibition, the outreach programme aims to inform masses about various welfare schemes of the government through expert lectures, group discussions, distribution of printed awareness material and through live performing arts.

In his address at the occasion, Kira said that AKAM was a celebration of India’s rich and glorious past.

He said that diversity is the strength of our nation which has been a cultural and economic power even in the past.

He impressed upon the field officials of the ICDS to take the messages of development to the last person, adding that the field workers have a direct contact with the people at the grassroots level and can be instrumental in the success of welfare schemes.

In his welcome address Field Publicity Officer CBC Shahid Mohammad Lone gave a detailed overview about the mandate and activities of CBC and briefed the audience about the programme.

He said that mass awareness about various welfare schemes is the key to ensure their successful implementation.

He thanked the divisional and district administration for support and coordination in organising the program.

Supervisor ICDS Tabasum Zargar gave a detailed presentation on the programmes implemented by the department especially POSHAN Abhiyan and Pradhan Mantri Matritvu Vandhana Yojana.

She urged the field workers to ensure mobilisation at the ground level for success of these programs.

During the program, empanelled Private Registered Troupes of CBC also presented theme based cultural programmes on Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
