Five gamblers arrested in Bla, stake money seized: Police

Srinagar: Police arrested five gamblers in Baramulla and seized stake money from their possession, a police spokesman said on Saturday.

The spokesman said acting on specific information about gambling activities at Chennad Delina, a police party raided the specific site and arrested three gamblers on the spot.

“They have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Bazaz son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Nasimbagh Sopore, Naveed Nabi Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat resident of Khawajabagh and Ghulam Hassan Bhat son of Mohammad Zaman resident of Shiapora Delina,” the spokesman said.

He said the officers have seized stake money of Rs 2320 and playing cards from the gamblers.

Similarly, a police party of Mirgund police post raided the gambling site at Rambailgarh and arrested three gamblers on the spot.

The arrested persons have been identified as Adil Ahmad Khan son of Mohammad Ayoob Khan resident of Matipora A/P Singhpora Pattan and Shahzad Ahmad Malik son of Ghulam Ahmad Malik resident of Singhpora Pattan.

“Officers have seized stake money of Rs 4000 and playing cards from the gamblers,” the spokesman said.

He said cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
