Drug peddler arrested in Kupwara, contraband Substance recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police in Kupwara have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.

The spokesman said that during the preceding night the police received information regarding hoarding of narcotic substances by one person namely Fareed Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Rehman Sheikh a resident of Hajitra Taad at his residential house.

“Accordingly, a police party alongwith Executive Magistrate Ist class Tangdhar raided the said house. During the search, 580 grams of Heroin like narcotics substance was recovered. The accused person has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody,” he said.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No 06/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Karnah and investigation has been initiated, he said.
