Kakapora residents rue lack of basic facilities

PULWAMA: The residents of Kakapora area in Pulwama district on Thursday complained of basic facilities.
The residents said the roads of the area are in a dilapidated conditions while the historic higher secondary school in the area has been deprived of development for the last decade.
“Tehsil headquarter was given to this area, but till now no attention is being given towards the lack of facilities in the area,” said former General Secretary of Bar Association Pulwama, Bashir Ahmad.
He said the areas like Sambora, Kakapora, Okhoo, Sithargund, Marwal and Lalhara in Kakapora sans irrigation facilities due to which the paddy fields remain dry during peak season.
“Such issues are not noticed until people come to the streets. Sand is being extracted from Jhelum and the level of the river is quite low,” he said.
He said there was an urgent need to review the internal roads of Kakapora while the higher secondary school in Kakapora should be developed as well.
