Bpr admin seizes excavator involved in illegal mining
BANDIPORA: The department of Geology and Mining on Tuesday seized one excavator involved in illegal mining at S K Payeen area of Bandipora district.
The seizure was made on the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed as part of the drive against illegal mining of minerals.
An official said that they received information about the illegal extraction of soil following which the department raided S K Payeen area during odd hours and seized one excavator on spot.
It was informed that the seized machinery has been handed over to police station Ajas for further action under rules.
Speaking about the issue, DC urged the public to stay away from illegal practices and warned of strict action against the persons involved in illegal practices.
He directed the mining department to intensify the raids and work in coordination with police and other concerned departments to curb illegal mining.
He said unplanned, unscientific and illegal mining not only threaten our resources but also cause ecological imbalances.
