DC Bla reviews Power, Health scenario across district

BARAMULLA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar on Tuesday convened a meeting of concerned health functionaries to review the overall healthcare scenario of the district.

On the occasion, the DC took a detailed stock of health infrastructure in the district, status of rented buildings, manpower, rationalisation of manpower and machinery available.

Apart from this, the DC also reviewed the status of National Health schemes, Maternal and Infant death, Golden cards, universal screening under Non Communicable Diseases, Capex and District Budget besides operationalisation of new Special Newborn Care Unit, Nutrition Rehabilitation Center under Aspiration District Programme.

After taking a detailed note of the health department, Dr. Sehrish urged health functionaries to come up to the expectations of the patients and focus on providing best services and make accessible, affordable health care in the district available for the patients.

On the occasion, the DC exhorted upon all Block Medical Officers to complete targets under Golden Cards, screening of Non Communicable Diseases within a definite time frame besides directing the concerned authorities to inaugurate all the completed projects by December 31.

Moreover, the DC also directed for providing 24/7 health care facilities in all hospitals besides stressing upon punctual duties of doctors and paramedics and directed for strict adherence to duty roasters.

Later in a separate meeting, the DC took a review of the progress of the Power Sector in the district.

On the occasion, the officers apprised DC about the power scenario in the district and gave detailed account of the physical and financial progress achieved under different schemes to augment power availability and distribution across the district.

After reviewing the progress, the DC directed the concerned officers to adopt various strategies to ensure fair and smooth supply of power in the district.

While considering that power supply has been enhanced significantly in the district, Dr Sehrish said that a reasonable and fair curtailment schedule has to be properly framed and strictly adhered to.

She further directed for maintenance of Buffer stock of damaged Transformers, transformer oil and poles besides keeping availability of Horticulture and Agriculture vehicles for transportation of DTs/Poles.

She called for coordination of all the constituted teams on seizure of crude electric appliances from markets and action taken against power theft.

She underlined the involvement of the PRIs and community members in stopping misuse of electricity and discouraging use of crude gadgets like heaters besides in recovery of pending and overdue electricity bills.
