DLSA Sgr holds awareness programme

SRINAGAR: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar on Monday organised a day-long awareness programme on “Maintenance & Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act.”

The event was organised at the Conference hall of ADR Centre District Court Complex Moominabad under the aegis of JK Legal Services Authority and in collaboration with National Institute of Social Defense, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India and Anugraha Regional Resource & Training Centre on Ageing.

The Programme started with the speech of Bisma Khan, Advocate (Resource Person) who spoke on Sociological aspects of Ageing with dignity and Constitutional Provision for the Senior Citizens.

This was followed by Advocate Syed Sibtain Rizwi (Resource Person) who highlighted the Provisions of Maintenance under Section 125 Cr. PC for the Senior Citizens in Particular.

Advocate Malik Fahad spoke on maintenance and welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007, while Advocate Suhaila Ali highlighted the role of DLSAs in welfare of Senior Citizens.

At the conclusion of event, Sub-Judge Fozia Paul who is also Secretary DLSA Srinagar thanked all the resource Persons, Participants for participating in the programme and Anugraha Regional Resource and Training Centre on Ageing for organizing such an event for senior citizens which is the need of the hour.
