DC participates Jan Abhiyan activities of MC Shopian

SHOPIAN: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian Sachin Kumar Vaishya on Friday visited Municipal Council Complex Shopian and took part in various activities being undertaken under the flagship Shehri Jan Abhiyan being held as a prelude to the ‘My Town My Pride’ programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the Shehri Jan Abhiyan has been organized to spread awareness among the people regarding various government initiatives in place for the welfare of the citizens, assess needs for planned development of urban areas.

He said the aim of the program is to increase interaction between the public and government to ensure responsive and transparent governance.

Vaishya said that all departments have been directed to ensure vigorous participation in the program and are assigned tangible targets.

He said the performance of each department is being evaluated and exhorted the District Officers to ensure that the assigned tasks are implemented on ground in letter and spirit.

He said that every effort is being made to ensure delivery of public welfare services and the district administration is committed to ensure 100 percent coverage of eligible genuine beneficiaries.

The DC said that inputs of the public under the overall supervision of PRI members and in consultation with the departments will be the basis of formulation of resource mobilization plans.

Vaishya said that he is closely monitoring the identification of youth for setting up self-employment ventures through various Govt. schemes in vogue. He assured the youth that a hassle free mechanism is in place for taking the benefits under MUMKIN, PMEGP, etc and they should come forward to set up self-employment ventures.

He also directed officials to ensure that awareness regarding these schemes is held regularly to ensure that any interested youth can avail the opportunity.

Vaishya interacted with various officials and inspected the stalls setup by ICDS, Revenue, Health, AYUSH, Banks, Social Welfare, FCS&CA, Cooperatives, Agriculture and Horticulture, Handicrafts and Handlooms, NRLM, Youth Services and Sports and other departments. He impressed upon the officials to ensure that the public are briefed about the schemes in place and how they can leverage these for their welfare.

He also distributed land passbooks among the beneficiaries.
