Pulwama theft case solved, accused arrested: Police

Srinagar: The J&K Police on Thursday said it has solved a theft case in Pulwama by arresting an accused person involved in the commission of crime.

The police spokesman said the stolen cash was also recovered from the possession of the accused person.

He said that Police Station Rajpora received a written complaint on November 14 from Mohammad Yousuf Dar of Tujan stating therein that an amount of Rs 28000 was withdrawn from his account by the unknown person.

“A case vide FIR No. 100/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Rajpora and investigation was initiated,” the spokesman said.

“During the course of investigation, a special team was constituted. With the help of technical resources, it came to fore that the amount has been withdrawn by using his ATM card at Dalipora ATM outlet by a person wearing a mask,” he said.

The spokesman said that during further course of investigation, the suspect was identified as Shabir Ahmad Poswaal (ATM Guard at Pakherpora ATM) son of Mohammad Qasim Poswaal resident of Sonabanjr Rajpora.

“He was arrested and during questioning stolen money worth Rs 28000 and four other ATM cards of other customers were recovered on his disclosure,” he said.

The spokesman said that the further investigation into the matter is going on.
