Budgam Admin holds orientation programme under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan-2

Budgam: A daylong orientation programme under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was held at Conference Hall Budgam.

A review, feedback and orientation workshop was organized by District Social Welfare Office Budgam in collaboration with district administration Budgam.

The programme was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam Dr Nasir Ahmad Lone while the State Coordinator for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan from Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government Nandini Rawat interacted and took feedback from the master trainers and volunteers on the occasion.

The master trainers and volunteers from the Education, District Legal Services Authority, Social Welfare and Health department participated in the workshop.

ADC emphasised that every individual has a role to play to make Budgam as Nasha Mukt District. He said though both civil and police administration are on the job to get drug abuse menace eliminated from the society, tangible results will be achieved only after due support and contribution from the people.

The State Coordinator also sensitized the participants about their role in curbing the menace.

DSWO Budgam, Dr Farhana Asgar also spoke on the occasion and deliberated on the activities being carried out by Social Welfare under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan across Budgam district.

She emphasised on the need to change on approach towards sensitising the society regarding different drugs and their impact on youth and society.

She also talked about developing a network of officials, officers, teachers, master volunteers from DLSA, doctors, medical professionals, police and individuals from all walks of life to create intelligence network to generate awareness, recognise hot spots of drug abuse, spot out drug peddlers and abusers and finally provide treatment at district level.

DSWO said that they are working on a multipronged approach to reach the abuser and his family, and how to guide them at every step to come out of their addiction into the mainstream.

She emphasised on the importance of individual responsibility of each and every member of the community to ensure systematic improvement in drug demand reduction at all levels.

Later, participants also took pledge against drug abuse under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
