Sanjeev Verma presides over Jan Abhiyan Shehri Campaign at Kathua

KATHUA: On the third day of Jan Abhiyan Shehri and as part of ambitious ‘My Town My Pride’ programme, a series of activities were carried out by Urban Local Bodies (ULB) across the district.

Commissioner Secretary, Forest Sanjeev Verma presided over the urban leg of Jan Abhiyan Proceedings at MC Lakhanpur and Hiranagar today.

While inspecting the stalls of different departments, Sanjeev Verma called upon the departments to run the Jan Abhiyan Shehri campaign aggressively so that the message is carried out to the targeted beneficiaries.

He also distributed land passbooks and approved loan cases amongst the SVANidhi beneficiaries.

The Commissioner Secretary also visited PHC Lakhanpur where he enquired about the facilities being given to the patients, besides also participated in plantation drive organized in the premises of PHC Lakhanpur.

Later, Sanjeev Verma also visited Hiranagar where he participated in the ongoing Jan Abhiyan Shehri programme at MC Hiranagar and interacted with the public and listened to their demands, grievances, issues projected by the locals on the occasion.

Lauding the efforts of urban local bodies, Sanjeev Verma highlighted the importance of Jan Abhiyan which is run upto MTMP 2.0 as a channel to ensure mass participation of the urbanities in the governance process. He further urged the locals to come forward and give their suggestions, advice, and innovative ideas so as to fulfill the growing developmental aspirations of the people.

Emphasizing on the importance of urban farming, Sanjeev Verma exhorted upon the public to adopt the modern concept of farming called city farming which does not require large parcels of land and which can give larger dividends from the small land holdings and with minimum efforts.
