DGP sanctions Rs 1.34Cr SWR for NoKs of Police personnel

Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh sanctioned Rs 1.34Cr Special Welfare Relief (SWR) for NoKs of martyred and deceased Police personnel and SPOs.

The police spokesman said the relief was sanctioned to provide financial succor to the families of the police personnel who have attained martyrdom or have passed away while in service.

“DGP sanctioned Rs 38 lakh in favour of dependents of martyr Constable Ghulam Hassan and Special Welfare Relief of Rs six lakh in favour of dependents of Martyr SPO Javid Ahmad who attained martyrdom in different terrorist attacks,” the spokesman said.

He said DGP also sanctioned financial assistance of Rs One lakh each in favour of NoKs of Martyr SgCt Gulzar Hussain and Constable Mohammad Amin Shah in connection with the marriage ceremonies of their daughters.

“Similarly, relief of Rs 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents of deceased HC Pawan Kumar, Swami Raj, SgCt Shamim Ahmad and SgCt Sunil Kumar,” he said, adding that the deceased personnel passed away due to illness or natural death while in service.

Also, Rs one lakh each has already been paid to NoKs of these martyred/deceased Police personnel for performing last rites through their concerned units. “The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds,” the police spokesman said.
