Police solves 2 burglary cases in Awantipora, 2 arrested

Srinagar: Police have solved two burglary cases in Awantipora and arrested two accused persons involved in the commission of crime, the police spokesman said.

He said the stolen property worth lakhs was recovered from their possession as well.

The spokesman said that Police Station Khrew received written complaints from Ishfaq Majeed Dar resident of Ladhoo Khrew and Ghulam Hassan Sheikh resident of Khrew that some unknown burglars have stolen golden ornaments from their residential houses located at Ladhoo and Khrew.

“Accordingly, cases vide FIR Nos’. 67/2022 & 68/2022 under relevant sections of law were registered in Police Station Khrew and investigation was initiated,” he said.

He said that during the course of investigation, strenuous efforts were put forth by the investigating officers by using modern techniques including the collection and examination of CCTV footage.

“The collection of evidence resulted in the identification of two accused persons involved in the commission of crime,” he said.

The Police have identified them as Mukhtar Ahmad Bhat son of Wali Mohammad Bhat resident of Mughal Bagh Wanpoh Anantnag and Tariq Ahmad Dar son of Bashir Ahmad Dar resident of Banghdar Anantnag and were subsequently arrested.

“On their disclosure, the investigating team recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 8 lakhs from their possession,” he said.
