Theft case solved within hours in Handwara, 3 arrested: Police

Srinagar:Police solved a theft case within hours in Handwara after it arrested three accused persons involved in the commission of crime, a police spokesman said on Friday.

He said the stolen property was also recovered from their possession.

“On November 10 of 2022, a case FIR No. 295/2022 under relevant sections of law regarding theft of electronic gadgets and other essential tools from forest range office Handwara was registered at Police Station Handwara,” he said.

The spokesman said a team led by SHO Handwara started the investigation and developed some leads following which statements of witnesses and technical evidence were taken.

“Three persons involved in the offence were identified, traced and arrested,” he said.

The Police have identified the arrested as Amjid Sheikh son of Abdul Majeed, Irshad Ahmad Sheikh son of Sana-ul-lah Sheikh, both residents of Sheikh Colony Bagatpora Handwara and Hilal Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Sher Colony Sopore.

“On their disclosure, the investigating team recovered stolen items including LCD, Grass Cutter, Gas Cylinder, Inverter Battery, Printer, Photostat Machine from their possession,” the spokesman said.

He said that further investigation into the matter is going on to ascertain further involvement of the accused persons in other similar cases.
