3 day Jujutsu championship concludes at Bpr

SRINAGAR: A three-day Kashmir division Jujutsu championship organized by J&K Sports Council held at multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall Shadipora, Sumbal concluded on Monday.

The championship was held in collaboration with J&K Jujutsu Association under My Youth My Pride- a special sports initiative.

More than 300 participants comprising boys and girls in different weight categories were part of the three-day programme.

The championship was aimed at tapping talent besides providing a platform for budding players to get first-hand experience of the competitive event and cope with the pressure of such competitions.

Joint Secretary Sports Council Bashir Ahmad Bhat presided over the closing ceremony as the chief guest while Surinder Mohan, SDPO Sumbal along with Nazir Ahmad Tehsildar were the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Bashir Ahmad Bhat said that through the medium of its special sports initiative My Youth My Pride, Sports Council has been able to achieve encouraging results both in terms of athlete participation as well as tapping the talent from the peripheries of the UT.

“The seeds sown now shall bear fruition in the times to come once these talented athletes reach the bigger stages and the day is not far away when we shall be among the leading medal winners in national tournaments,” he said.

SDPO and Tehsildar Sumbal appreciated the role of the Sports Council in reaching out to the athletes at their doorsteps and the way these programs are helping in mobilizing support for curbing the menace of drug addiction.
