Awareness programme organized at Kulgam to observe Vigilance Awareness Week
KULGAM: A day-long mega awareness programme was organized on Saturday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in collaboration with District Administration Kulgam.
The event was organized as part of Vigilance Awareness week being observed across the country.
Chairperson District Development Kulgam (DDC) Kulgam, Mohammad Afzal Parrey and Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Dr. Bilal-Mohi-Ud-Din-Bhat jointly presided over the awareness programme.
DDC and BDC members, PRIs besides ADDC, ADC, ACD, ACP District officers, engineers and a number of officials from various departments participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted measures being taken by the government to put an end to corruption, including switch over to e- Governance, disbursement of welfare benefits of various schemes of the Government in a transparent manner through the DBT initiative, implementation of e-tendering in public procurement, simplification of procedure and other measures.
In his address, ADC/DVO Showkat Ahmad Rather said that the objective of the programme is to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of bribery and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by the corruption.
Officers and resource persons from ACB also deliberated on various Acts and added that the focus areas of the awareness week is to spread greater awareness to encourage complaints under Public Interest Disclosure and protection of Informers and conduct a unique clearance campaign to clear all outstanding vigilance matters.
