Mandeep inaugurates IWMP training programme on PFMS

JAMMU: The Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), on Monday started a two-day training on Public Financial Management System at Panchayat Bhawan Jammu.

The programme was inaugurated through virtual mode by Commissioner Secretary Rural Development Department (RDD) and Panchayati Raj Mandeep Kaur who is also the Chairperson of J&K IWMP.

Mandeep Kaur in her inaugural address underscored the need for training of the staff of IWMP on PFMS given the fact that under new generation watershed projects most of the engaged staff is fresh and its orientation to the financial tools is most important to implement the scheme effectively.

She said that more training programmes will be conducted in near future by roping in national level bodies like NIRD and PR Hyderabad for capacity building of IWMP manpower.

Chief Executive Officer, IWMP Dr. Bharat Bhushan in his address hoped that the training will equip the staff with latest interventions in PFMS and immensely help in programme implementation. He added that the primary function of PFMS is to facilitate a sound Public Financial System by establishing an efficient fund flow system as well as a payment cum accounting network.

Kuldeep Singh and Rohit Tikku, PFMS experts from State PFMS Cell J&K imparted the training along with hands-on demonstration.
