 ‘Asian Mail’ holds literary function

Srinagar: An event titled “Eid Milad-ul-Nabi and Mushaira” was organised by Asian Mail at New Wave Public High School, Pandach on Saturday.

Famous writers and poets of Kashmir Valley participated in this literary event, while a significant number of students and teachers of the school participated in the event.

The ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Musharaf Ahmed, a student of 9th class presented the recitation of the Holy Quran, while another class 9th student Hujjat Manzoor recited the Naat. Tahir Bashir, a young student presented Naat in the Kashmiri language and Manzoor Baig gave the detailed light on the biography of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w).

The event was presided over by Valley’s famous Broadcaster writer, and poet Abdul Ahad Farhad while senior broadcaster Syed Humayun Qaiser, writer Hasrat Gadha and School Chairman Bashir Ahmad Dar were present at the event as special guests.

Rashid Rahal Editor-in-Chief hosted the program.

In his address he said that due to the adverse conditions of Jammu and Kashmir the education sector has suffered irreparable loss while the new generation remained far away from the civilization and culture of Kashmir.

He said that the Asian Mail had organised such programs from time to time so that the young generation, who are the future of the nation and the country, can be in harmony with the teachings left by their ancestors.

Abdul Ahad Farhad, Syed Humayun Qaiser, and Hasrat Gadha said that modern education as well as moral education for the young generation is the most important need of the hour.

The poets who took part in the program were Bashir Ahmed Shakir, Engineer Shabnam Bashir, Rahil Rasheed, Muhammad Sultan Miskeen, Manzoor Zahoor, former police officer Ghulam Muhammad Rather, Haider Ali Hadi, Tahir Shabbir, and Abdul Ahad Farhad were the dignitaries.

Bilal Ahmed, Principal of New Wave Public High School, Pandach, presented the vote of thanks at the end of the ceremony.
