Pulwama: The residents of Hanjibal village in Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday complained about lack of basic facilities in their villages.

The residents said the condition of the road connecting the village to different areas was in a dilapidated condition, leaving them in a state of despair.

“Besides road connectivity there is no facility of potable water in the area, due to which we are forced to consume contaminated water,”: a local resident said.

He said there was apprehension about an outbreak of water borne disease in the village.

“The road leading from Kakapora road is in dilapidated condition while the condition of the inner lanes is worse than this road,” said Zahid Ahmad, a local resident.

The locals said they have been suffering in absence of basic facilities for decades while the authorities have paid deaf ears to their repeated pleas.

“We brought the issue into the notice of higher ups repeatedly only to get verbal assurances from the officials,” he said.

The residents urged the higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
