Four drug peddlers arrested in Bla: Police

Srinagar: Police arrested four drug peddlers in separate actions across the district, a police spokesman said on Friday.

The spokesman said different types of contraband substances have also been recovered from the possession of the accused.

He said a Police party of Police Station Uri arrested a drug peddler at a checkpoint established at NS Bridge Uri.

The police have identified the accused as Sajad Ahmad Abassi son of Ghulam Rasool Abassi resident of Gowhalta Isham Uri.

“During the search, 83 grams of Brown Sugar have been recovered from his possession,” he said.

Similarly, at Ushkara Crossing a Police party of Police Station Baramulla arrested two drug peddlers, the spokesman said.

The arrested were identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Beigh aka Seth Jamal son of Abdul Hamid Beigh and Irfan Ahmad Rather aka Phoolan Devi son of Mohammad Sabir Rather, both residents of Fatehpora Khawajabagh Baramulla.

“During the search, officers recovered 542 banned tablets of Spasmoproxyvon from their possession,” the spokesman said.

He said a Police party of Police Post Palhallan arrested a drug peddler at a checkpoint established at Hamrey Pattan.

The arrested person has been identified as Asif Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Salam Bhat resident of Anderkoot Sumbal, Bandipora.

“Officers recovered 105 grams of Charas from his possession,” the police spokesman said.

He said cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated as well.
