DC Srinagar inspects functioning of Himayat Centre, Bal Ashram & Nari Niketan

Sanctions funds for establishment of Reading Rooms at both facilities

SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Tuesday visited Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan at Shalimar to take stock of the functioning of the Centres and facilities being provided to the enrolled inmates.
The DC also visited Himayat Training Centre, Shalimar established for youth to provide IT and Soft Skill training and placements to earn livelihood.
At Bal Ashram and Nari Nekatan, the DC took stock of the functioning of the facilities and went around various sections including dormitories, reading rooms, dining and cooking area, etc.
He also enquired about the lodging, boarding, education, sports, medicare and other facilities being provided to the enrolled orphans at the Centres by the Department.
The DC stressed on providing all requisite facilities to the inmates enrolled in Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan Shalimar.
On the occasion, the DC also sanctioned funds for establishment of Reading Rooms at both the facilities for orphan children with computer and allied facilities.
Meanwhile, the DC directed the officers and other staff of Bal Ashram and Nari Nekatan, Shalimar to maintain work culture and punctuality to ensure better office functioning at both the Centres.
Earlier, the DC was apprised that presently 36 children/inmates are putting up in Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan, Shalimar who are being provided all necessary facilities.
Later, the DC visited Himayat Training Centre, Shalimar established to provide support for trainees after availing the skill and other job related training and placement as well.
On the occasion, the DC was apprised that at present as many as 70 individuals are being provided skill/personality development and IT related training under the Himayat programme at the centre. He was also informed that short-term training courses for at least 3 months have been designed for the youth in the age group of 18 and 35 to help them find gainful employment in a range of trades as per latest market demands.
The DC was further informed that the Himayat Training Centre act as youth resource centres, career counseling centres and refer services for unemployed youth to explore their capabilities and channelize their skill through proper training course and on the completion, the youth are assured of a job with one-year post-placement tracking to see how they are progressing.
Among others, the DC was accompanied by Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, Naib Tehsildar, Sheikh Showkat and other concerned Officers.
