Four vehicles involved in illegal mining seized in Ramban
RAMBAN: The District Mineral Officer (DMO) Kulwant Singh has seized four vehicles used in illegal mining and transportation of raw material, the official spokesperson said on Monday.
The vehicles were seized during raids in different areas of Ramban, he said.
“On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam the DMO, along with his team, conducted raids in different areas of the district to check illegal mining, extraction, and transportation of raw material,” the spokesperson said.
The DMO informed that during the drive, three dumpers and one tipper used in illegal mining, transportation of illegally extracted minor minerals were seized.
“Two dumpers were handed over to the SHO Chanderkote for legal action and Rs 38 785 was also recovered as a fine from violators,” he said.
“The Department is taking strict actions against illegal mining, and we are trying to discourage it,” the DMO in a handout said.
He advised consumers to purchase minerals from legal sources only and stay away from illegal miners.
He warned that FIR will be lodged against the violators, if found involved in illegal transportation of minerals second time.
