DC inspects offices, ongoing works in Bijbehara, Srigufwara

ANANTNAG: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom Wednesday inspected several offices and ongoing works in Sub Division Bijbehara.
The DC visited the office of Municipal Committee Bijbehara and inspected the new office building which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 3.26 crore and set a deadline of 1st November for completion of work. He issued directions to the engineering wing to ensure quality material is being used for construction.
Dr Basharat inspected the additional accommodation under progress at GDC Bijbehara. The new building is coming up at a cost of Rs 10.5 crores.
Outlining the importance of the new block which will provide better infrastructure for knowledge dissemination, the DC directed the executing agency to deploy more manpower so that the work is completed before onset of winter.
The DC also visited under construction Sub Centre at Kanelwan and WSS Kanelwan which is being taken up under Jal Jeevan Mission. He said that JJM is the flagship scheme of the government and every effort is to be made to ensure that every household has access to tap water.
He directed the concerned execution agency to expedite work on WSS Kanelwan so that water availability issues in the area can be resolved. WSS Kanelwan is under execution with a total cost of Rs 6.32 crores and will benefit nearly 7000 souls. Stressing on ensuring supply of portable water, he directed Jal Shakti Department to take up silt clearance and ensure chlorination as per requirement.
Later, the DC visited WSS Darigund, WSS Pushkriri, WSS Semthan and Rapid Filtration Plan at Pethnoo. WSS Darigund being taken up at a cost of Rs 3.71 crore will benefit 3500 souls while WSS Pushkriri will benefit 3500 souls. WSS Semthan will benefit around 6000 souls and will be completed at a cost of Rs 5.56 crore. He visited Sub Centre Kathsoo which is being taken up under PRI grants and is being constructed by R&B with an estimated cost of Rs 20.32 lacs and will benefit a population of around 5000 people.
He also visited Panchayat Ghar at D Pora and directed the BDO to take up modernization of the building so that it can be put to public use. He laid emphasis on quality control and directed the concerned to ensure completion of works before onset of winter. He said that additional manpower as deemed necessary must be deployed.
The DC was accompanied by JD Planning, SDM Bijbehara, Executive Engineer PHE, Tehsildar Bijbehara, BDO Bijbehara among others.
