Police arrests six persons in Awantipora, seizes s many vehicles

Srinagar: Police have arrested six persons and seized six vehicles involved in the commission of crime, the police spokesman said on Monday.
The spokesman said the Police Station Awantipora received information about illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from river Jehlum at Padgampora Awantipora.
“Accordingly, a police party raided the specific spot and seized six vehicles (Dumpers) and also arrested six accused drivers with illegally extracted sand,” he said.
The Police have identified the accused as Manzoor Ahmad Dar resident of Lathpora, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat resident of Patalbagh Pampore, Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat resident of Patalbagh Pampore, Sajjad Ahmad Bhat resident of Wouan Khrew, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Nilnag Chadoora and Bilal Ahmad Ganie resident of Patalbagh Pampore.
“They have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody,” he said.
He said a case vide FIR No. 209/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation have been set into motion as well.
“Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law,” the spokesman said.
