DEO Srinagar holds meeting with EROs, AEROs, other officials

Says no eligible voter to be left behind

SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, who is the District Election Officer(DEO) Monday chaired a meeting of all Electoral Registration Officers(EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers(AEROs), Heads of all City Colleges and Chief Education Officer here at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex to review ongoing drive for registration of all unregistered eligible voters of Srinagar District through Systematic Voter Education Electoral Participation (SVEEP) under ongoing Special Summary Revision(SSR)-2022.
At the outset, detailed deliberations were held in order to maximize the registration of eligible electors across 8 Assembly Constituencies of Srinagar District during the ongoing Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls-2022 having qualifying date as 01/10/2022.
On the occasion, the DEO stressed the officers to work with added zeal in better coordination and mobilise field functionaries within their jurisdiction to increase the percentage of enrolment particularly in the newly eligible 18+ years age group.
The DEO asked them to adopt a multipronged Strategy and fill the gaps at micro level with targeted interventions to achieve the set targets. He asked the officers to undertake Door to Door survey by BLOs for enrolment.
The DEO further asked for conducting Special Enrolment Drive in Colleges and Schools by utilization of Electoral Literacy Clubs(ELCs) in all City Colleges besides appointing a Nodal Officer in the Colleges for enrolment drive. He also emphasized on holding Youth Voter Festival in all Colleges of the District to sensitize the students about the registration process, electoral process and power of their vote.
The DEO urged all EROs and AEROS to ensure effective monitoring of the electoral registration process and take feedback from ground staff on a daily basis so that targets fixed are achieved before the set timelines.
The DEO further said that all Principals of Colleges are designated as Nodal Officer for their colleges with one Associate professor as Additional Nodal Officer, besides all College Principals have to submit a list of 10 Campus Ambassadors (Students). He said the Campus Ambassadors along with Assistant Nodal Officer will assist the other students regarding filing of Form-6 (online/offline mode). While concerned AERO were asked to visit Colleges for collection of FORM-6 for onward submission of ERO concerned.
As part of ongoing extensive SVEEP campaign, the DEO directed all Officers to hold wide-ranging events, activities and outreach programs across all colleges and schools of district Srinagar in order to reach out to every eligible elector in the district till 25th October 2022. All eligible citizens who have attained the age of 18 or above and are born on or before 01-10-2004 must get registered in the electoral rolls.
Moreover, DEO insisted upon all the EROs/AEROs of the district that they must ensure that the designated Booth Level Officers of all 902 polling stations of district Srinagar should reach to every single household in order to facilitate the electorates and registering their all genuine claims during the ongoing electoral registration process.
Earlier, the District Election Officer was given a detailed powerpoint presentation by Consultant(SVEEP), Riyaz Ahmad Bhat about the various aspects of SSR_2022.
The DC was apprised about the Assembly Constituency wise number of registered voters and total unregistered electorates in the District as per the census of 2011. He was informed that during ongoing SSR-2022, all individuals who are 18 years of age or above as on 01-10-2022 can get their names enrolled in the electoral rolls by filing Form-6 used for registration of newly electors. While Form-7 can be used for objections to proposed inclusion /for deletion of name in existing electoral roll.similarly, Form-8 used for multiple purposes viz correction of any particulars in roll, shifting of residence (within or outside constituency), replacement of EPIC and marking of person with disability and Form-6B used for capturing Aadhar no of existing electors.
During the meeting, it was also informed that the claims and objections can be filled in both online as well as offline mode. For online mode one can log on www.nvsp.in or download Voter Helpline App (VHA) and for offline mode concerned BLO/AERO/ERO can be contacted. With regard to the projected population of 1427164 in Srinagar, it was given out that the District has 663499 electors registered so far with an EP ratio of 46.49.
The meeting was among others attended by Deputy District Election Officers, all Electoral Registration Officers(EROs) of all 8 Assembly Segments of the District, all Assistant Electoral Registration Officers(AEROs), Dy. Director Information, Nodal Officer Colleges, National Level Master Trainer/ Consultant, District Informatics Officer Srinagar, Principals of all Degree Colleges of District Srinagar, Chief Education Officer (Nodal Officer SVEEP) Srinagar, District Level Master Trainers and other officials of District Election machinery.
