Awantipora Police solves burglary case, accused person arrested

Srinagar: Police in Awantipora have solved a burglary case by arresting one accused person involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property from his possession, a police spokesman said on Thursday.
He said that Police Station Awantipora received a complaint from a shopkeeper Mohammad Imran Wani resident of Donigund Noorpora on August 6 stating that during intervening night of August 5 and 6 some unknown burglars had stolen cell phones from his shop located at Kharmood Awantipora.
“In this regard, a case vide FIR No.185/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation set into motion,” he said.
During the course of investigation, a police team led by SHO PS Awantipora raided multiple places and based on certain tangible clues, officers zeroed in on a suspect identified as Shabir Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Mohammad shah resident of Gulshanpora Tral.
“When officers spoke to him they learnt about his involvement in the commission of crime. On his disclosure, 49 stolen cellphones have been recovered from his possession,” the police spokesman said.
The accused has been arrested and shifted to a police station where remain in custody.
“Further investigation into the case is going on, more arrests are expected,” he said.
