Says duo was involved in the killing of a labourer
Srinagar: Two terrorists were killed on Wednesday in an encounter with security forces in Nowgam area of Srinagar, police said.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation based on a specific input in Dangerpora area, falling under Nowgam police station limits, a police official said.
He said that soon after the cordon was laid the hiding terrorist opened fire targeting the security forces who retaliated, triggering an encounter.
Two terrorists were killed so far in the operation, he added.
Police later said that the two operatives were affiliated with AGuH outfit and they are identified as Aijaz Rasool Nazar of Pulwama & Shahid Ahmad @ Abu Hamza.
They were involved in recent attack on an outside labourer namely Muneer ul Islam from West Bengal on 2/9/22 in Pulwama, police informed in a tweet.
Pertinently, both Shahid resident of Malpora Budgam and Ajaz Rasool Najar of Karimabad had gone missing few days ago.
