DC Anantnag reviews functioning of ICDS & Social Welfare Department

ANANTNAG: The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Anantnag, Dr. Basharat Qayoom on Tuesday reviewed the functioning of the ICDS and Social Welfare Department at DC office.
The Programme Officer ICDS informed the chair that there are eight child development projects in Anantnag catering to a population of 8,31,599 with 2209 operational Anganwadi centres aimed at providing the best nutritional diet to the beneficiaries.
He informed that the main beneficiaries of ICDS schemes include children, pregnant women, specially abled persons.
He also informed the chair about the physical and financial achievement of various ongoing schemes viz. CAPEX budget, CSS, convergence with MGNREGA, PMMVY, Ladli Beti, Poshan Abhiyan and SAG.
DSWO presented a powerpoint presentation of the department in which the target achievements for various welfare schemes were presented briefly.
Schemes including ISSS, MAS, widow pension, old age pension, PCPPS, scholarship scheme, schemes for welfare of handicapped etc were also discussed.
The DC held threadbare discussion with regard to implementation of various deliverables and schemes of ICDS and Social Welfare.
He directed officers to conduct training programmes of TSOs, Anangwadi workers, conducting awareness camps for wide publicity of the social schemes.
He also directed them to ensure time bound enrollment and disbursement of cases besides ensuring all the basic facilities like drinking water, toilets, playgrounds, skill training for orphans at the Anganwadi centers.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, CPO, Programme Officer ICDS, DSWO, TSOs and other officials of the concerned departments.
