LeT terrorist killed, solider injured in Shopian gunfight
Shopian: A newly recruited local terrorist affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba was killed while as a soldier was injured in a gunfight that broke out in the orchards of Shirmal village in Zainapora area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Monday.
An official said that on specific input about the presence of terrorists, a joint team of police, Army and CRPF after receiving the information launched a search operation in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon the party, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.
The official said that during exchange of fire, a ultra identified as Aqib Ahmad Pall, son of Mohammed Akram Pall, Resident of Drawani Imamsahib Shopian who was affiliated with LeT and active since 05 September this year was killed besides that one soldier of 44 RR was injured who has been shifted to 92 base hospital Srinagar for treatment.
He added that more reinforcement has been rushed to the spot search operation is going on in the area. (KNO)
