Samoon inaugurates newly constructed Govt. Polytechnic College at Awantipora

AWANTIPORA: Principal Secretary Skill Development Department (SDD) Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon on Friday inaugurated the newly constructed Government Polytechnic College.
The Vice Chancellor (VC) Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo was also present at the occasion.
The campus has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 19 crore and has been completed recently.
The Principal Secretary said that some machinery and equipment have already been installed in the lab and directed the IUST representatives of the college to install the remaining machinery and equipment immediately.
He further instructed the college representatives to ensure 100 percent admission besides apprenticeship with Industry for better placement of pass outs should also be looked into.
He highlighted that the college being centrally located shall be made as a placement hub keeping in view the industry requirements of the area.
Dr. Samoon also stressed upon representatives of the college that various government initiatives aimed at the promotion of skill and talent in universities and colleges across J&K should be publicized regularly so that maximum youth are attracted to them. He added that the government is determined to make all universities in Jammu and Kashmir as the successful skill hubs of innovation.
The Principal Secretary instructed the Director SDD that strenuous efforts should be made to build the highly sophisticated skills in students across all institutions in J&K.
