DC Anantnag reviews functioning of Health department

Sets November as deadline for completion of all pending civil works

ANANTNAG: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom Tuesday reviewed the functioning of the Health department in the district.
The purpose of the meeting was to review the healthcare services being provided in the district, utilization of available infrastructure and the deployment of staff in various medical blocks.
At the outset, the DC said that delivery of quality healthcare to the last mile has been accorded one of the highest priorities and the health department in the district has to ensure that anybody in need of medical services is catered to.
He said that special focus must be laid on providing health services in far flung/ remote areas of the district. He said that huge investments are being made for capacity building and infrastructure upgradation in the sector.
The DC emphasized that any outstanding works, particularly construction of PHCs and NTPHCs must be completed physically and financially by November and buildings put to public use.
Further, he said that punctuality of staff as well as maintaining hygienic conditions in health facilities is indispensable and lackadaisical approach in this regard will not be tolerated.
Earlier, the CMO Anantnag, Dr MY Zagoo presented the chair about the medical profile of the district.
Regarding COVID vaccinations, the chair was apprised that nearly 2 million vaccine doses have been administered in the district and 100 percent of the eligible population has received vaccination doses. The CMO said that 10 Jan Aushadi centres are presently functioning in the District with adequate stock of medicines..
It was informed that in the present fiscal more than 5 lac patients have availed OPD services, more than 2 lac lab tests have been performed, 792 major and more than 10000 minor surgeries have been performed in the district.
CMO also briefed the chair on the physical and financial status of various projects under execution. He said under District CAPEX, some 50 works have been approved and estimated, and 28 of these are under execution and most of the remaining works have been tendered.
Among the main projects under execution are NTPHC Fatehpora, NTPHC Brinty, NTPHC Waghama, PHC Awoora, PHC Salia and PHC Hapatnard. Among works sanctioned under PMDP, most of the projects have been completed and taken over while two at SDH Dooru and SDH Bijbehara are nearing completion.
The chair was also informed that under the flagship Ayushman Bharat/ PM SEHAT, 98.52 percent of the families have been provided a Golden Card. It was informed that door to door registrations are underway and 100 percent of the families will soon be covered under the scheme.
The CMO further said that 16 hospitals within the district are empanelled under the scheme.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, JD Planning, SE R&B, CMO Anantnag, Ex. Engineer R&B, DGM JKPCC, BMOs, AEs among others.
