DC releases 5 Publications of the distt

GANDERBAL: A month long Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan commenced in Ganderbal and Kulgam district on Thursday with multifarious activities and awareness campaigns held on day one throughout the district.
Mega awareness rally on Drug Abuse was flagged-off by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir from Mini secretariat Ganderbal.
The rally was attended by ADC Farooq Ahmad Baba, ASP Ganderbal Feroz Yehya, District Officers, BDC Chairperson Ganderbal, Police, students, NGOs besides citizens.
A similar mega rally was organised by the district administration Kulgam at a mini-secretariat in which hundreds of students from various educational institutions of the district participated.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat along with ADC Showkat Ahmad Rather and other officers also participated in the rally.
A pledge taking ceremony was held in the lawns of Mini secretariat Ganderbal and Kulgam and pledge was administered by the DC Ganderbal among the participants who pledged to stay away from drugs and live a happy life.
Participants also pledged to cooperate in stopping the drug abuse and create awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse by encouraging every person, especially the youth so that the youth of India can live drug free and they can become creative and important members of the society.
The DC said that drug addiction is an issue of grave concern, especially among the younger generation.
He said it has detrimental impact not only on the individual concerned but on the society as a whole which needs to be eradicated completely from the society and in this regard he sought cooperation from all stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the DC Ganderbal in a separate function released four vital publications highlighting the socio-economic profile of Ganderbal District and One Evaluation Study on National Health Mission (NHM).
The publications were released during a book release function held in his office Mini Secretariat.
The Books released were District Statistical Hand Book, District at a Glance, Economic Review and Village Amenity for the year 2021-22 and One Evaluation Study on National Health Mission (NHM).
Chief Planning Officer Ganderbal, Irfan Ahmed Giri and District Statistics & Evaluation Officer Ganderbal, Akhter Hussain Malik were present in the release ceremony.
District Statistics and Evaluation Office Ganderbal is the Nodal Agency for collection, compilation and dissemination of important statistical data in the District.
The data contained in these publications and Evaluation will serve as an important tool for the researchers, Planners, Students and other users in their respective fields.
After releasing the publications, the DC hailed the efforts of field functionaries in collection of data and stressed on improvement of these publications in future with regular updating and wide coverage. He also highlighted the findings of the Evaluation study and pointed out the suggestions/recommendations for consideration of the Health department for better implementation of the scheme.
