Police launches bung destruction drives in Handwara, Sopore
Srinagar: Police have launched a special bung destruction drive in Handwara and Sopore, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
In Handwara, a police party alongwith officials from Revenue and Forest Departments launched a special drive against wild bung in village Monabal and its adjacent area and destroyed huge quantity of wild bung. Sarpanch, Panchs and other respectables of the area participated in the drive, the spokesman added.
Similarly in Sopore, police alongwith Naib Tehsildar Khoie and officials from the Excise Department carried out bung destruction drive in the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo. A police party also destroyed wild bung/cannabis spread on about 20 Kanals of land in village Krankshivan Tarzoo and its adjacent areas.
General public of these areas have widely appreciated the action taken by the Police and assured their full cooperation in future as well to eradicate drug menace from the society, the spokesman added.
