Two drug peddlers arrested, 450 bottles of Codeine recovered: Police

Kupwara: Police during an anti-narcotics drive against the drug peddlers in Kupwara north Kashmir has arrested two persons involved in sale of narcotics in the district, a police spokesman said.
He said that acting on a specific information, a special naka was established at Krusan Lolab. During the course of naka checking, a was intercepted and put to sustained search. During the search of the vehicle , a huge consignment of banned drug containing 450 bottles of Codeine were recovered.
Two persons involved in the commission of crime and boarding the said vehicle identified as Mudasir Ahmad Shah, son of late Mohammad Abdullah Shah, an employee in Education department and Esar Ahmad Shah son of Aman Ullah Shah, both residents of Darpora Lolab were arrested from the spot, the spokesman added.
During preliminary investigations, it has come to fore that the duo has procured the banned drug from outside the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and were on way to their area of residence to sell the drugs. Case FIR No. 49/2022 under sections 8/21, 29 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Lalpora and investigations taken up, the spokesman added.
He said that more arrests in the case are expected soon.
