Police arrests drug peddler in Baramulla

Srinagar: Police in Baramulla arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession, a police spokesman said on Saturday.
He said that police have also launched a bung destruction drive in Ganderbal.
In a handout issued here, the police spokesman said that the officers from PS Baramulla arrested a drug peddler at a checkpoint established at Ushkara Baramulla.
The arrested has been identified as Momin Rashid Najar son of Late Abdul Rashid Najar resident of Mohalla Jalal Sahib Baramulla.
“During the search, officers recovered 664 tablets of Spasmoproxyvon from his possession,” the handout reads.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation has been initiated, he said.
Meanwhile, the Police parties from PS Ganderbal and PS Kheerbawani headed by respective SHOs along with officials from Excise and Revenue Department launched a special drive against wild bung at Saloora, Qamaria road, Larsen and other adjacent areas.
“During the drive a huge quantity of wild bung was destroyed. General public of the area have widely appreciated the action taken by the Police,” the police spokesman said.
