DGP sanctions Rs. 2.15 crore as Special Welfare relief

Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh has sanctioned over Rs 1.22 crore as Special Welfare Relief (SWR) for NoKs of such deceased Police personnel and SPOs, a police spokesman said on Saturday.
In a handout issued here, the spokesman said Rs 93.50 lakh as ex-gratia relief was also sanctioned in favour of legal heirs of martyred Police personnel and SPO.
“An ex-gratia relief of rupees 38 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents and legal heirs of Martyrs HC Ali Mohammad Ganie, Constable Tawseef Ahmad Wani,” he said, adding that Rs 17.50 lakh was sanctioned in favour of dependents and legal heirs martyr SPO Shafat Nazir Khan.
He said the SWR of Rs 22 lakh each was sanctioned in favour of dependents of deceased Police personnel ASI Manzoor Ahmad, HCs Shalinder Singh, Vinod Kumar, Followers Ghulam Hassan and Nazir Ahmad.
“The deceased personnel have passed away due to illness/ natural death while in service,” he said.
Also, Rs one lakh each was already paid to NoKs of these martyrs and deceased police personnel for performing last rites through their concerned units.
“The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds,” the spokesman said.
Similarly Rs 6 lakh each as SWR has been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased SPOs Swarn Singh and SPO Abdul Hamid Sheikh who have passed away during the course of their engagement in the department.
“An amount of Rs 50000 each was already paid to their families for performing last rites. The amount is sanctioned out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs,” he said.
Besides, the DGP has also sanctioned Rupees one lakh as financial assistance in favour of NoKs of martyr constable to defray the expenses in connection with the marriage ceremony of his daughter.
