DGP sanctions welfare loan, relief for serving cops

Srinagar: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Rs 3.74-crore welfare loan/relief in favour of 317 serving officers and personnel of the J&K police, officials said on Thursday.
“Welfare loan of Rs 54 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of 43 personnel to meet expenses of self-treatment and/or treatment of their dependents. The amount sanctioned for the medical treatment ranges from rupees one lakh to rupees three lakhs. Besides, welfare relief of Rs 1.60 lakh in favour of nine police personnel has also been sanctioned,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
“This welfare loan is refundable and is recovered in monthly installments from salaries of beneficiaries without any interest. However, welfare relief sanctioned is non-refundable. The welfare loan/relief has been sanctioned out of the Central Police Welfare Fund,” the spokesman said.
