DDC Kupwara holds Block Diwas in Keran

Kupwara: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara Khalid Jahangir on Thursday urged officers and field functionaries to play a proactive role in resolving public grievances, even as he asserted that development of border areas is the topmost priority of LG administration.
The DDC said this while addressing a Block Diwas function at Keran, situated at Zero Line (LoC), an official spokesman said.
The DDC said that the district administration is committed for equitable development of all hilly and border areas of Kupwara district including Keran, Karnah, Jumangand, Kumkadi and Machill.
During the programme, the DDC laid the foundation of Water Supply Scheme (WSS) Keran under Jal Jeevan Mission in presence of concerned BDC chairperson, former engineer PHE and PRIs.
The scheme costs Rs 4.45 crore and will provide water in better quality and quantity to the entire population of Keran area.
Jahangir said that on directions of LG, various initiatives have been taken to ensure overall development of habitations in Keran.
The DDC also provided a special grant for 100 percent AI coverage to upgrade the livestock breed for better yields in the area, the spokesman said.
While inspecting the stalled Keran Bridge, the DDC directed for resumption of work on the bridge and directed the concerned engineers for its completion within two months.
