Advisor Bhatnagar reviews performance, functioning of SDD
SRINAGAR: Advisor to J&K Lieutenant Governor (LG) Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the performance and functioning of Skill Development Department (SDD) at Civil Secretariat here.
During the meeting the Advisor held detailed deliberations on progress of different Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), physical and financial progress on establishment of new Polytechnic Colleges, among others.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary SDD, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, Director SDD Sudershan Kumar, Chief Engineer R&B Jammu and Srinagar, Chief Engineer JKPCC, Principals and Superintendents of Polytechnics and ITIs of all districts besides the officers of SDD and other allied departments.
Speaking during the meeting, Bhatnagar impressed upon the officers that all the CSS should be implemented with a proactive approach of all the concerned stakeholders. He said these schemes are aimed at improving creating infrastructure and meeting operational requirements in technical institutions besides promoting excellence in technical and vocational training in these institutions.
While reviewing the physical and financial progress of 18 newly established Polytechnic Colleges, Bhatnagar directed the officers of concerned executing agencies to complete the ongoing projects within the given deadlines.
He stressed on them to work in mission mode and complete the academic and workshop blocks on priority so that the classwork can be started well on time.
Bhatnagar delved upon the officers and management of these institutes to explore the possibilities of starting new, advanced and emerging trades and also revise the syllabus for the existing trades in view of the rapidly growing technology driven world.
He asked them to involve representatives of industrial associations in revising the training courses/trades of technical institutes so that the pass out students can have viable employability avenues.
While reviewing the Human Resource position of these institutes, Bhatnagar emphasized upon the officers to refer all the vacant posts to concerned recruiting agencies and conduct DPCs expeditiously so that there is no shortfall of faculty in these institutes.
During the meeting, Director SDD gave a detailed presentation on progress and performance of the department.
