Police arrests 4 drug peddlers in Bla, Handwara

Baramulla/ Handwara: Police on Saturday arrested four drug peddlers- three in Baramulla and one in Handwara area of district Kupwara while contraband substances was recovered from their possession as well.
As per the police handout issued here, officers from Police Station (PS) Chandoosa under the supervision of SHO PS Chandoosa during routine checking at Jathar Chandoosa intercepted three persons.
“During search, officers were able to recover 06gms of Brown Sugar and 60gms of Charas like substance from their possession,” the handout reads.
The Police have identified the accused as Farooq Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Ahmad Wani resident of Kachwa, Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh son of Ghulam Hassan Sheikh resident of Fatehgarh and Amir Ahmad Wani son of Abdul Gani Wani resident of Zandfaran.
“They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody,” the handout reads, adding that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in PS Chandoosa and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, J&K police arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and recovered contraband substance from his possession as well.
The police spokesman said a police party of Police Post Magam during patrolling in Bomdagar area intercepted a person in a suspicions manner who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.
“During search, around 105 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession,” he said.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Quyoom Ahanger son of Abdul Razak Ahanger resident of Magam and has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
“A case vide FIR No. 206/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation has been initiated,” he said.
