Ratnipora villagers decry non availability of drinking water supply, stage protest

PULWAMA: The residents of Ratnipora area of Pulwama district on Thursday accused the Jal Shakti Department of its failure to provide adequate water supply to the area.
Aghast over the department failure, the residents of Ratnipora pulwama held a protest demonstration demanding that the area should get adequate drinking water on a daily basis.
The villagers raised slogans against the PHE Department, district administration Pulwama and alleged that Zameendar Mohlla, Gouri Mohlla and Banimohlla were left out by the department as no regular supply of drinking water was provided to these areas for a long time now.
“With the result, people of the area are suffering,” said Advocate Nazir Ahmed Bhat, a local resident.
“Even as the matter was brought into the notice of the concerned authorities through representations and protest demonstrations, no action was taken till date,” he said.
The people threatened to gherao the office of Jal Shakti Department if the concerned officials remain insensitive towards their plights.
