Police arrests seven gamblers in Baramulla

Baramulla: Police in Baramulla arrested seven gamblers and seized stake money from their possession, a police spokesman said Thursday.
Acting on specific information, a police party raided a gambling site at Drung Park Tangmarg following inputs about gambling activities and apprehended seven gamblers, a police spokesman said.
They have been identified as Amir Hayat Khan resident of Tang Bagh Nawakadal, Sajad Ahmad Wani resident of Wanganpora Eidgah, Lateef Ahmad Bhat resident of Zoonimar and Mohammad Younis Malik resident of Main Chowk Eidgah, Mushtaq Ahmed Baba resident of Chadihar Wanganpora Eidgah, Mohammad Ismail Bangru resident of Tanga Bagh Eidgah, Mohammad Maqbool Wani resident of Wanganpora Eidgah, he added.
Officers have seized stake money of ₹ 1,32,000/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Besides, two vehicles (Alto and Santro) bearing registration No.’s JK01AH-1415 & JK01S-2079 were also seized from gambling spot.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Tangmarg and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
