DC Budgam reviews arrangements for ensuing holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram

BUDGAM:
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza Tuesday convened a meeting of officers to review arrangements being put in place for ensuing holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
During the meeting, representatives from different Shia Anjumans raised various issues and demands including scheduled power and water supply, repairing and surface leveling of roads, link roads and inner lanes in all areas, timely distribution of ration, LPG, firewood, sanitation, installation/restoration of street lights, daily garbage lifting and proper sanitation maintenance, adequate health care facilities, transport and other related facilities are ensured in all shia dominated areas.
The DC directed PDD authorities to ensure installation/ restoration of High Mast lights, Halogen Bulbs and LEDs at all important locations besides street lights are fully functional.
He instructed PHE to ensure that water tankers are made available at identified locations besides uninterrupted supply of drinking water is also ensured during these auspicious days.
The R&B authorities were directed to repair the dilapidated roads and carry out prompt maintenance work at all inner links and lanes where mourning processions are carried out, while the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department was also directed to ensure adequate supply and prompt distribution of ration.
He emphasized that firewood distribution is ensured to be carried out before the beginning of Muharram in all areas.
The DC directed Municipal authorities to ensure proper sanitation around all Imam Baras during the Month.
Fire and Emergency Authorities were directed to remain prepared to deal with any eventuality and regarding transport arrangements the concerned authorities were directed to ensure adequate and hassle free transport facilities during the period.
